YOUR DATA, YOUR RULES.
Last updated: June 4, 2026
Freewill is built by Freewill Labs LLC ("Freewill," "we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, what we don't, and where your information goes. We wrote it in plain language because you deserve to actually understand it.
Almost everything you tell Freewill stays on your phone. Your onboarding answers, the habits you flag, how anxious you rate a challenge before and after, and anything you write in your reflections never leave your device. We don't run analytics, we don't track you, we don't show ads, and we never sell your data. The only things that sync to our servers are your account login and a handful of numbers that track your progress, so you don't lose your streak if you switch phones.
The rest of this policy is the detailed version.
Your account. When you sign in with Apple, we receive your email address (which may be an Apple private relay address if you choose to hide it) and the display name or crab name you pick. We use this to create and secure your account.
Your progress (synced). To keep your progress safe across devices, we sync a small set of numbers to our database: your experience points, level, current streak, longest streak, your progress, and the date you last completed a challenge. That is the complete list of what syncs.
Everything else (stays on your device). The following never leaves your phone. It is stored locally and is not transmitted to us or anyone:
If you delete the app, this on-device information is gone with it.
We share data only with the service providers that make the app work, and only the data described above:
That is the entire list. No one else receives your information.
If you turn on reminders, they are scheduled locally on your device. We do not collect a push token or route your notifications through our servers.
Subscriptions are billed through your Apple App Store account, and Apple handles all payment information. We never see or store your card details. You can manage or cancel a subscription anytime in your App Store settings.
If you choose to join a waitlist for an upcoming feature, you will open a form hosted by a third party (Tally) in your browser. Anything you enter there is handled by that provider under its own privacy policy. The app itself does not collect waitlist information.
You can delete your account at any time from the Settings screen. When you do, we immediately remove your account record and synced progress from our active database, and the app erases the information stored on your device. Backups that may contain a copy are purged on a rolling 90-day cycle.
Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Because Apple handles billing, you cancel a subscription separately in your App Store settings.
Your synced data is stored with industry-standard protections through Supabase. The more sensitive things you share, like your answers and reflections, stay on your own device, which is the most private place for them to live.
Freewill is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.
You can access your synced data, correct your display name, or delete your account and data at any time from within the app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information. Contact us and we will help.
If we add features that change what we collect (for example, a future feature that uses AI to help you practice), we will update this policy and the date above before that feature goes live.
